How to Use Recorded Conversations for Podcasts and Video Interviews

Modified on Thu, 15 Jun, 2023 at 3:45 PM

MarketScale Studio provides a powerful platform for recording conversations between multiple people, making it an ideal tool for hosting engaging discussions, podcasts, or video interviews. This guide will walk you through the process of using MarketScale Studio's conversation room feature to record conversations with up to three guests. By the end, you'll be able to create, schedule, and record conversations with ease, while managing privacy settings and ensuring a seamless experience for all participants.

Here's how to record a conversation in MarketScale

Log in to your MarketScale Studio account at https://studio.marketscale.com/dashboard.

Navigate to the conversation icon on Studio.

Next you are able invite up to three guests to join you in the conversation room.

These guests can be internal (typically, user has the same email domain as your company website) or external (typically a user with an email domain different than your company website) to your organization.

Begin typing the email address for the guests you are inviting. Guests that are already users will have their name appear in the drop down. For guests that are not currently users, type in their complete email address and click enter.

Next, title your Recorded Conversation – we recommend choosing a title related to the topic of the conversation.

Finally, if you would like to schedule in advance, click the calendar icon to select a time and date for your Recorded Conversation. While the room will be open as soon as it is created, choosing to schedule in advance will inform your guests via email of the recording time and date.

You can also open a room immediately by skipping the calendar step.

The room does not expire until a Recorded Conversation has been submitted via that room.

Next, you have the option to select who will see your media by clicking the Privacy icon. This allows you to control who will see the content upon submission. We recommend rarely changing this option.

Now you’re ready to create your Recorded Conversations room. Click ‘create room’.

Once your room is created, it will appear below the Create New Room section, in the Open Rooms section.

It will also appear on your Dashboard that you see when you login to the platform.

All guests invited to the Recorded Conversation will receive an email with the link to the Conversation Room. In addition to this link, you’ll find a button on the Conversation Room card for ‘Copy invite link’.

IMPORTANT: This link, either provided by you from copying the card, or through the email they receive, is the only way for an external guest (not a currently verified Studio user) to enter the Conversation Room. Existing, Verified Studio users can also enter the room by logging into Studio and clicking ‘Open Room’ on the Recorded Conversation that appears on their dashboard as seen above.

If the external guest loses their link and cannot locate it in their Spam/Junk folders, any User can copy the link and send it to the external guest.

NOTE: This only works if the external guest was invited to the Recorded Conversation in the first place. This will not allow a different guest to enter the room without a prior invitation.

For Recorded Conversations scheduled in advance, especially those with external guests, MarketScale recommends copying this link to the room and including it in a calendar invitation that you send from your own email platform such as Outlook or Gmail.

This will allow you to reschedule the Recorded Conversation as you see fit, because the Room will remain open until you have actually recorded and submitted your content.

Now, you’re ready to record your conversation. Open the room via email or logging in, and selecting ‘Open Room’.

All guests are required to test their device specifications and connection speed. Click ‘Test now’ and wait for your system to conduct the test. Select between your connected cameras and audio inputs to ensure you are recording on the correct camera and microphone.

If a user does not have the necessary specifications and connection speed, they may not be able to join the Recorded Conversation room, or will be required to acknowledge that there is a risk of losing the recording upon submission.

Once the test is completed hit ‘Enter room’.

When everyone has arrived in the Conversation room, take some time to review the key features of the room and let everyone get comfortable.

You’ll find options for selecting your camera, mute, virtual backgrounds, and a button to begin recording.

You’ll also have access to a chat feature, allowing you to interact with the other guests in your Recorded Conversation room while you’re recording. This chat is not part of the final recording, it is designed to help you prompt your guests without interrupting your recording session.

Once your guests have arrived, you’re ready to record! Click ‘Start Recording’, and you will begin recording after the countdown.

It is a best practice to never stop your recording until you are completely done with your conversation. Any instances where a guest misspeaks, or you need to redo a part of the recording, can be edited out in post. Simply pick up where you left off, all while leaving the room recording.

If you are already in the room and waiting on another guest, you can select the ellipses on the right hand side and copy a link to the room to send to this guest. Remember, this guest must be on the original invitation, or they will not be able to enter the room.

When you’ve finished recording, click ‘Submit’ and keep all guests in the room until the Recorded Conversation has successfully submitted. This may take up to a few minutes, so be patient.

And that’s it! You’ve successfully recorded a conversation for a podcast or video interview.
